Idaho Legislature Governor-Appointed Panel Will Soon Start Building Health Insurance Exchange

Either this week or next, Governor C.L. "Butch" Otter is expected to move legislation forward following one of the more controversial debates in the 2013 Idaho Legislature: the creation of a state-run health insurance exchange. Otter is expected to name a panel to become midwives to the exchange which must be up on on its feet by January 1, 2014.
"Rick Wagner, who specializes in health care reform as director of business development for Eide Bailley LLP, said Obamacare deniers in 2012 were bound to be disappointed.
"It came before Congress and you heard, 'Oh, it will never pass," said Wagner. "Then it went before the Supreme Court and you heard, 'Oh, they'll strike it down." Folks, the train has left the station and worst thing you can do is nothing. If you wait until Jan. 1, 2014, I promise you, it will be too late."
Earlier still is a deadline of October 1 of this year, when exchanges are supposed to be prepared to accept applications.

"Please don't shoot the messenger," said Wagner. "So many people had their heads in the sand, hoping that something would change or delay this. That's not going to happen. Get your heads out of the sand."
